Merthyr Town missed the opportunity to move into third place in the table when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Penydarren Park by a mid-table King`s Lynn Town side who'd lost their previous three games.
In front of a crowd of 409, both goals came within a minute of each other, with Lee Stevenson putting the Linnets ahead in the 37th, only to be immediately pegged back by Ian Traylor.
Frome Town travelled to inconsistent Kettering Town looking to move level on points with fifth-placed Banbury United, whose home game against Chesham United was abandoned due to fog.
But the Somerset side found the Poppies in form and with the game virtually sealed by half-time, leading 3-0 with goals from Rene Howe after 29 minutes, new signing James Hall on debut six minutes later and Brett Solkhon in first half injury-time.
Frome had a lot more of the game in the second period and pulled one back through leading scorer Jake Jackson in the 62nd minute. But in the 79th minute though, Hall grabbed his second to earn the Poppies their best home league win of the season to date.
Tuesday`s other game to go ahead saw St Ives Town moved into a very respectable twelfth place, three points behind Kettering, after edging out Stratford Town by the odd goal in five at the DCS Stadium.
Justin Marsden gave the hosts a great start with a goal inside the opening minute before the Saints battled back to level within six minutes through Jack Bradshaw.
That was the end of the scoring until six minutes from time when Will Grocott restored Stratford`s lead. Then, a minute from time, Bradshaw`s second of the game pulled St Ives level before Ben Seymour-Shove won it for the visitors three minutes into stoppage time.
