Tuesdays Evo-Stik South, West Review

By Jack Moore

The top two in the Evo-Stik League South, West met on Tuesday night and it`s as you were after leaders Taunton Town shared a 1-1 draw at Bristol Manor Farm.

In front of a season`s best attendance of 311, it was the hosts who took a 17th minute lead with virtually their first attack of the evening when Ben Bament played the ball across the box for Jordan Metters to fire home.

However, the Peacocks made their relatively short trip back down the M5 a reasonably happy one when Pierce Mitchell’s strike took a wicked deflection off Manor Farm`s Lloyd Mills to make it 1-1.

Winchester City moved into fourth spot after a 2-1 win at North Leigh.

Ollie Bailey put the visitors ahead after 19 minutes, only for Lorcan Sheehan to level within 6 minutes.

City`s winner came from Andy Jenkinson just past the hour-mark.

Swindon Supermarine are seventh after a 4-2 WebbsWood Stadium win over bottom side Bishops Cleeve.

Brad Hooper`s penalty after 8 minutes and then Connor Thompson after 17 minutes and Josh Parsons 5 minutes later had `Marine three-up before Cleeve scored twice in 2 minutes shortly afterwards from Ieuan Crowe and Harlie Price.

But a fourth from Joe Selman on the hour-mark sealed the home side `s win.

Paulton Rovers earned local bragging rights after a 4-0 win at Yate Town.

James Byrne gave Rovers a 17th minute lead from the spot and Dave Sims-Burgess added a second 6 minutes later.

Sims-Burgess added his second and Rovers` third on 65 minutes, with Jack Ball rounding off a good away victory for Paulton 4 minutes later.

Second-bottom Shortwood United picked up a point from a 3-3 home draw with the team immediately above them in the table, Barnstaple Town.

It was just 1-0 at the break with Barum`s Luke Durham the scorer.

Joe White equalised immediately after the break and Nick Humphreys made it 2-1 to United just 6 minutes later.

Less than a minute later though Chris Ibbeson levelled matters from the spot, only for Jordan Morris to make it 3-2 to the hosts 8 minutes later.

But Barum bounced back quickly once more through Karl Rickard.
