Tuesday's Evo-Stik South, East Round-Up

By Jack Moore

Moneyfields had their unbeaten start to life in the Evo-Stik League South, East on Tuesday night.

The Moneys lost 3-2 at home against mid-table Uxbridge – their first league defeat in sixteen games.

The visiting Reds took a 15th minute lead when a defensive error gifts the ball to Ben Peden who coolly slotted home.

Moneys were level after 36 minutes when a Conor Bailey free-kick was powerfully headed home by Sam Pearce.

But on 63 minutes the visitors` restored their advantage when a dangerous ball into the box hit Pearce and Peden claimed the final touch.

The Reds increased their lead to 3-1 in the 70th minute when Peden was brought down by Sam Kyle in the box and Cole Brown converted the resulting penalty.

Five minutes later, the home side pulled one back when new signing Jamie White scored from close range after good work by Jamie Ford.

However, despite lots of late pressure late on, Moneys couldn’t find the equaliser the unbeaten run in the league came to an end……..

And so did leadership of the table as AFC Rushden & Diamonds beat fifth-placed Cambridge City 2-0 at Hayden Road in front of a crowd of 421.

The final outcome was a little harsh on City, who had lots of the game without anything to show for their efforts.

Crucially, Diamonds broke the deadlock a minute before half-time when Tom Lorraine got on the end of a free-kick to plant a header past Nick Conroy.

And Diamonds doubled their lead in the 71st minute when Joel Gyasi broke upfield before calmly slotting the ball past Conroy.

Two minutes later it was almost three, but Ryan Robbins’ effort flew narrowly over the bar.

But the win was enough to take Diamonds to the top of the table for the first time this season on goal difference.

AFC Dunstable and Beaconsfield Town remain in third and fourth place respectively after both also recorded Tuesday wins.

A 22nd minute Nathan Frater effort eventually proved enough for AFC Dunstable in the Creasey Park derby with Bedford Town, while goals from Jordan Ajanlekoko right on half-time and Goldy Capela right at the end of the game, sealed Beaconsfield`s win at Hayes & Yeading United.

Another Bedfordshire side, Kempston Rovers, are now eighth after a 4-0 derby victory at bottom side Arlesey Town in which Sam Johnson netted a hat-trick in the 5th, 59th and 80th minutes – the third from the spot.

A Raheem Khan own goal after 77 minutes accounted for the Walnut Boys` other goal.

Fleet Town were 3-0 Calthorpe Park winners over Egham Town in which Matt Bunyan gave the hosts the lead on the half-hour mark.

Ryan Marklew added a second in the 73rd minute and George Pilbeam the third 2 minutes into stoppage time.

Marcus Mealing bagged a brace as Marlow saw off second- bottom Hanwell Town at home.

Mealing struck in the 22nd and then in stoppage time, sandwiched by a 78th minute Allen Bossman effort, with Nick Turner replying deep into time added on.

There were two brace-men in the 3-3 draw between Thame United and Northwood.

Dan West bagged two for the hosts in the 32nd and 35th minutes, while Wilson Chingoka did likewise for Woods in the 23rd and 64th minutes.

Lynton Goss added Thame`s other to give them a 3-2 lead in the 70th minute, only for Mahlondo Martin to level within a minute for the visitors.

Just one goal in the evening`s other game, but new signing Tre Mitford`s goal 5 minutes from time for Aylesbury United at Chalfont St Peter lifted the Ducks off third-bottom spot.
