Tuesday's Central Division action review

By David Watters

Royston Town moved a whopping seventeen points clear at the top of the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central table after beating fourth-placed Barton Rovers 4-0 on their own Sharpenhoe Road patch, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, it wasn`t until the hour-mark when Scott Bridges broke the deadlock to give the Crows the lead. Three minutes later, and well-travelled striker Matt Nolan added a second for the visitors.

It was game over seven minutes later with a third from Josh Castiglione and another experienced front man, John Frendo, made it 4-0 with less than three minutes remaining.

Third-placed Marlow pulled to within eight points of second-placed Farnborough, but perhaps more importantly, nine points in front of sixth-placed Kempston Rovers, after a 3-1 success at Hanwell Town.

Hanwell themselves were looking to keep their outside hopes of mounting a top five challenge alive but found themselves 2-0 down inside 16 minutes, courtesy of Chid Onokwai and Jordan Brown.

Chris Ovenden added Marlow's third just past the hour-mark, with Billy Healey netting an 81st minute consolation for the hosts.

Egham Town inflicted a third successive defeat on Beaconsfield SYCOB to move to seventh and within a point of Kempston.

Chris Moors scored a vital 44th minute opener for the Sarnies at the Runnymede Stadium and 12 minutes after the break, Ryan Phillips doubled their advantage.

Brendan Matthew made it game over with Egham`s third on the hour-mark and less than a minute later, Bajram Pashaj added a fourth, with Charlie Losasso replying five minutes later for the visitors.
