Saturday's Central Division review

By David Watters

The only unbeaten record in the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central went on Saturday when Royston Town were beaten 4-1 at Hanwell Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Crows found themselves 3-0 down inside 36 minutes after goals from Khale Da Costa, Calum Duffy and Will Turl. Kaan Fehmi reduced the deficit just after the hour-mark, but Dean Allen`s effort five minutes from time completed a comprehensive win for Hanwell.

Farnborough look determined to bounce straight back after suffering relegation from the Ryman League's Premier Division at the end of last season.

Spencer Day`s side were comfortable 4-0 winners at Holloways Park against Beaconsfield SYCOB, with veteran striker Jamie Cureton bagging a second half brace after opening period goals from Josh Higgins and Dennis Oli.

Newly-promoted AFC Kempston Rovers are second in the embryonic table after they won 2-1 at the Glassworld Stadium against a Histon side who not that long ago were four divisions above the Walnut Boys and are yet to win this season!

Ashley Fuller gave the visitors a half-hour lead that Matt Allen cancelled out on the hour-mark, only for recent signing Danny Watson to continue his good scoring start with the winner a minute from time.

Chalfont St Peter and Aylesbury United complete the early top five, but the Saints went down to their second defeat, 2-1 at Potters Bar Town, for whom Ashley Nathaniel-George after 50 minutes and Danny Hart five minutes later proved too much for the Saints, whose Craig Tomkins replied three minutes later.

The Ducks won 2-1 at Thame against Bedford Town, for whom this was a fifth defeat in eight.

The Eagles led too through Josh Bamford`s 20th minute effort but Reece Cameron`s penalty pulled the Ducks level 19 minutes from time and Ryan Kinnane won it seven minutes from the end.

Along with Histon, promoted Kidlington are also searching for their first win after suffering a 5-1 battering at fellow new boys Ashford Town (Middx).

Mark Bitmead gave the Tangerines a 26th minute lead that Lewis Coylem levelled three minutes later. But that was as good as it got for the visitors, who conceded four to Dan Fleming, a Chris Wheedon own goal, Kameron English and Max Herbert.

Elsewhere, Aylesbury FC doubled their win tally with a best-of-five success at Calthorpe Park against Fleet Town, whose new returning striker Pat Cox bagged a brace in the 31st and 58th minutes.

In between the Moles had skipper Ben Stevens dismissed but the ten-man battled back to win, thanks to Martin Griggs on 62 minutes, Jon Montgomery on 73 minutes and then Kieran Turner with three minutes remaining.

New boys AFC Dunstable beat Northwood 3-1 at Creasey Park with goals from Bernard Christie in the first half and Jermaine Hall and Josh Humbert in the second – Ryan Debattista equalising right on half-time.

Arlesey Town won for the second time this season in emphatic fashion – 6-1 at home to Petersfield Town.

It was only 2-1 at the break, thanks to Jack Vasey and Taylor Rhiney for the hosts and Dan Simmonds for the visitors. But Tony Williams bagged a brace and Lewis Wilson and Rafe Goodman singles as Arlesey bagged four more in the second period.

Anaclet Odhiambo gave Marlow the lead five minutes into the second half but visitors Uxbridge earned a point, thanks to Kevin Warner`s 62nd minute effort, while at Sharpenhoe Road, Steve Gentle had hosts Barton Rovers in front inside the opening minute against Egham Town. But the Sarnies recovered to grab a point, courtesy of Bajram Pashaj just before the beak.
