Saturday's Central Division action review

By David Watters

It`s as you were at the top of the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One Central after wins on Saturday for leaders Royston Town and second-placed Farnborough, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Crows still head the table by a point after they edged out Egham Town bhy the odd goal in five at Garden Walk.

But the hosts were made to sweat a little for their win after leading 3-0 with goals from Scott Bridges after 15 minutes, Gus Scott-Morris two minutes after the break and Bridges again on 64 minutes. Brendan Matthew reduced the arrears on 71 minutes before Gareth Chendlik reduced the deficit to one seven minutes later to ensure a nervy final 10 minutes or so.

Farnborough were more comfortable 3-0 Cherrywood Road winners over Kidlington.

The win came courtesy of Josh Huggins on the half-hour mark and then two goals in the final eight minutes from Nick Ciardini and Sam Pearce. There was still time for Boro`s Ollie Treacher to see red and Lewis Coyle to miss the resulting penalty for the visitors.

Third-placed Marlow were beaten 1-0 at home by fourth-placed AFC Dunstable, whose Jermaine Hall netted a 16th minute goal to end the home side`s six-game winning run.

And fifth-placed Kempston Rovers were also beaten at home, 2-0 by third-bottom Beaconsfield SYCOB, for whom Ollie Jones and Lee Rushe were on target in the opening half.

Sixth-placed Barton Rovers are now just two points behind the top five after Rod Orlando-Young`s goal eight minutes from time sealed victory at Sharpenhoe Road against neighbours Arlesey Town.

Potters Bar Town dropped to seventh after a 1-1 draw at Hanwell Town, whose Zak Joseph cancelled out Ashley Nathaniel-George`s opener on the half-hour mark after 65 minutes.

Ashford Town (Middx) in eighth were also held – 0-0 at Chalfont St Peter while bottom-markers Histon lost by the odd goal in nine at the Glassworld Stadium to Fleet Town.

A Cameron Watson own goal gave Fleet an early sixth minute lead that Matt Allan and Watson at the right end turned round by the 26th minute. Both keepers, Histon`s Niall Conroy and Fleet`s Ryan Pryce, were sent-off before Pat Cox equalised from the spot five minutes after half-time.

Allan then went on to complete his hat-trick, only for Cox, Danilo Cadette and Zach Hawker to outscore their hosts and end the game with two more men as a crazy match saw Histon finish with just seven players on the pitch and Fleet with nine.

Ryan Debattista netted a hat-trick as Northwood beat Bedford Town 3-2 at Chestnut Avenue – Nathan Tshikuna having given the Eagles a first minute lead and Steve Karkari having equalised five minutes after the break.

Matty Woods goal 11 minutes from time saw Uxbridge home against Aylesbury FC at Honeycroft.

The Moles` neighbours, Aylesbury United, shared a 1-1 draw with second-bottom Petersfield Town, with the Ducks scoring both goals – Bruno Lobo De Brito at the right end and Ryan Kinnane at the wrong one.
