Saturday's South & West action review

By David Watters

Hereford FC maintained their ten-point lead at the top of the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One South & West table after a comprehensive 4-0 win at bottom side Bridgwater Town on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A big following from the Bulls swelled the Fairfax Park crowd to 756 and they saw Mike Symons give the visitors a 2-0 lead inside 16 minutes.

Tristan Plummer added a third 2 minutes after the break and Jamie Molyneux a fourth in stoppage time.

Second-placed Tiverton Town maintained their fairly distant challenge after a 4-2 Ladysmead win over Bishops Cleeve in which Levi Landricombe helped himself to all four with a brace in each half. Jack Watts and a Jack Horrell penalty for Cleeve.

Third-placed Evesham United also won, 3-1 at Wimborne Town, thanks to Mark Magee, Adam Mann and Paul Fahy, with Toby Holmes netting a late Magpies consolation.

Mangotsfield United were held up though as they had their game at Cossham Street against Winchester City abandoned after 65 minutes due to a serious leg injury to City`s Joe Hayward.

However, fifth-placed Shortwood United were de-railed at home by an impressive Larkhall Athletic, who struck five without reply, thanks to a Joe Tumelty brace top and tailing goals from Rob Hobbs, Tom Knighton and James Stinson.

The new management team at AFC Totton began with a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to North Leigh, whose Stuart Hole bagged a second half brace after George Seacole had given them a 23rd minute lead.

Louis Joyce scored the only goal just after the break for Didcot Town at the Loop Meadow against Paulton Rovers, while Sean Downing scored both of Bideford`s goals at second-bottom Wantage Town.

Lee Smith gave Slimbridge a 35th minute lead at home to Yate Town, whose Jack Ball equalised just before the break.

But an Adam Mace spot-kick and one from Archie Haskayne sealed the home side`s victory.

Experienced striker Justin Bennett showed he`s not lost his touch with a hat-trick for Salisbury FC in a 5-2 Ray Mac win over Taunton Town.

Lewis Benson bagged the other two for the Whites, while Jordan Rogers scored both of the Peacocks` goals – including a penalty.
