Safety switch should be brief

EVO-STIK League Southern Hayes & Yeading United have a agreed a deal to play their next match at Hendon after being told to play their next round of home league and cup games away from their new Skyex Community Stadium.

United chairman Tony O'Driscoll apologised to fans on Tuesday and told them officials would be pulling out all the stops to carry out critical work at the stadium to return home to Beaconsfield Road as quickly as possible with the minimum of disruption.

In a statement thanking Ryman Premier Hendon for agreeing to host their top flight clash with Merthyr Town on Saturday at Silver Jubilee Park in Kingsbury, O'Driscoll said the decision was taken following discussions with the London Borough of Hillingdon, the EVO-STIK League Southern and the Football Association.

The chairman said: "Critical work on the new stadium, including various electrical items and other necessary amenities, need to be completed before the relevant authorities will be in a position to grant the relevant safety certificates.

"Obviously, the club is fully aware of the disruption that this will cause to supporters, both home and away, during this period. Hayes & Yeading United would like to apologise for these disruptions, and will work tirelessly to make sure that the time spent away from our new home is both short and productive.

"The club would also like to thanks Hendon FC for agreeing to take on this game at short notice, as well as the EVO-STIK League Southern and the FA for their understanding during this disruption."

* After beating Sun Sports on Saturday, the EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division club will host Ryman Premier Worthing in The Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round on Saturday 17 September.
