Proud Castle tells fans to party on!

Royston Town manager Steve Castle wants to see fans of the champions partying until the end of the season after winning promotion to the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight.

Proud Castle told supporters to kick off an extended promotion party at Fleet Town on Saturday after the club won the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One Central championship on Tuesday night without kicking a ball after second-placed Farnborough's goalless draw at Kempston Rovers meant they couldn't be caught.

With four games still to play, including Aylesbury United in their first home game since winning the title next weekend on Easter Saturday followed by Hanwell Town on the last day of the regular season on Saturday 22 April, the Crows boss urged fans to enjoy their success at every opportunity before they start the serious business of going up after coming so close last season as runners-up.

Ahead of their trip to Hampshire at the weekend, the former West Ham and Peterborough coach said: “Happy days! I want to publicly thank all the players that have performed so well for us over the last eight months, they all have been heroes! To win the league with four matches still to play is an unbelievable feat.

“Now to refocus on other targets which hopefully will keep us at the levels expected as champions! Nice to say that, 'champions', I would love everyone to enjoy that fact. I know we all quickly look at next season but for now let’s revel in our situation as it is and enjoy."

Castle, who enjoyed a 19 year playing career at Football League clubs including Leyton Orient, Birmingham City and Peterborough, left the hot-seat at Essex Senior League Takeley in December 2013 to succeed Paul Attfield after he stepped down at Garden Walk for health reasons.
