Nine new names as Brown rebuilds

Terry Brown has all but completely rebuilt his Basingstoke Town side for the upcoming EVO-STIK League Southern campaign in a bid to return to National League South at the first time of asking.

The former Hayes, Aldershot and AFC Wimbledon boss, pictured, has signed nine new players and has told fans more are on the way. Only skipper David Ray from last season’s relegated side has stayed at the Ark Cancer Charity Stadium as the Dragons go full-time in an all-out bid to land the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight championship.

Brown said: “We have to set the targets as high as we possibly can. My message to our boys is that there are no excuses.”

Midfielder Matt Partridge became the last player to join Brown's squad last week. Already well known to Basingstoke fans having had two previous loan spells at the club, the 22-year-old spent last season at Dagenham & Redbridge and Newport County.

Brown's other signings so far are strikers George Hallahan, Aaron Jarvis and Sam Deadfield, midfielders George Bennett and Richie Whittingham along with defenders David Ray, Joe Gater and Mark Hastings.
