New reward for unsung heroes

By David Watters

EVO-STIK League Southern Weymouth are launching a new initiative to honour people who've gone beyond the call of duty for their local community.

The EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division club are teaming up with the Weymouth Echo on Tuesday night to launch the Terras Community Thankyou scheme when they host Hayes & Yeading United in top flight action.

The community initiative is being run by the club's commercial team who are looking for nominations from Echo readers and people on social media sites for the unsung heroes in their lives. Parties of up to eight nominees will be invited to enjoy a VIP matchday experience at the Bob Lucas Stadium with the first recipients set to be unveiled on Tuesday.

Terras spokeswoman Liz Bell, pictured, said: “We will then invite them to a Weymouth match and provide them with full match hospitality and hopefully give them a really enjoyable afternoon or evening out.

“The Terras Community Thank you scheme is for groups of up to eight people from any local organisation. This could be staff on a hospital ward, teachers, charity workers, anybody who has gone that extra mile for local people and deserves a thank you."

Future nominations for the scheme can be dropped in at the stadium or sent via email to: commercial@theterras.co.uk.
