Magpies skipper is milestone man

Wimbourne Town captain Scott Arnold is looking forward a testimonial in 2017 and being the guest of honour at the club's next sportsman's dinner after reaching another milestone for his EVO-STIK League Southern club.

Signed in July 2011, the 31-year-old was hailed by officials at the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West club as their 'captain fantastic' after making his 500th appearance for the Magpies in their 3-2 reverse at the hands of leaders Hereford.

Pictured being presented with the match ball and a bottle of bubbly on the pitch at The W+S Stadium, the former FC Bournemouth, Verwood Town, Poole Borough and Bournemouth Poppies defender was congratulated in a club statement. Officials say Arnold will be honoured by former Wimbledon, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United boss Dave Bassett who is hosting their next fundraising event in the run-up to Christmas.

The Magpies said: "Everyone associated with Wimborne Town FC would like to congratulate our 'captain fantastic' Scott Arnold, a top man and club legend. Thanks Scott for everything you do for our club, you've still got it.

"To demonstrate their appreciation of Scott's commitment and loyalty to the club over a number of years, the board of directors have made Scott guest of honour at a sportsman's dinner that will be held at the club on December 1. A testimonial match will also be held for Scott in 2017."
