Molesley installed as new boss

Mark Molesley has won the chance to lead Weymouth into the 2017-18 EVO-STIK League Southern season.

The former England C international was named as the club's newly installed manager within hours of guiding the Terras to a 4-0 win over promotion-chasing Leamington in their final outing of the season on Saturday.

A player-coach under former manager Jason Matthews at the Bob Lucas Stadium before his departure after three and half years at the helm, the 36-year-old stepped up after a three game spell as caretaker alongside Paul Maitland, who is staying on as assistant-manager.

In a statement confirming Molesley's appointment by new chairman Steve Mills, pictured below, the Terras said their new manager would be continuing in his role coaching Bournemouth's U21s and was set to add to his backroom staff this week with brothers Tom and Joe Prodomo coming in as head coach and player-goalkeeping coach respectively.

The new Terras boss, who played in the Football League for Bournemouth, Aldershot Town, Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City and in Non-League for Hayes, Cambridge City, Aldershot Town, Stevenage Borough and Grays Athletic, pulled off a major coup within hours of taking charge by securing the services of club captain Stephane Zubar for next season, main picture.

On Sunday he told supporters that they could look forward to a big shake-up at the club ahead of next season after signing the powerful defender who quickly became a fan' favourite after his arrival back in October.

Molesley told Echo Sport: "I’m my own man. There will certainly be changes and a big shake up, that’s without a shadow of a doubt. I will be looking to put my own stamp on it now. I will be looking to put everything that I have learnt through my own career with my own ideas. I am quite clear in my mind of how I want to do things and how I want to set this up.

He added: “This is a good project and one I am excited about. It’s a great club and an illustrious club but that doesn’t give it any god given right to just achieve something. If anything, it has its challenges. We want to be winning the hearts and minds of everyone around the club and the community, bringing old fans back, and building things on solid foundations.”
