Cup clash will be all ticket after all

EVO-STIK League Southern Taunton Town are making their Emirates FA Cup clash with Barrow all ticket after all.

After initially saying tickets would on sale at the turnstiles on Sunday 6 November, Peacocks officials announced the switch on Tuesday due to the unprecedented demand from supporters to see the historic first round clash.

With cup fever gripping the town, it is only the second time in the club's history that a match at Wordsworth Drive has been all-ticket, the last time coming in the FA Vase semi-final against local rivals Tiverton.

Before the run of Leigh Robinson and his current Peacocks side, the club hadn't made it to the first round of the FA Cup since 1982 when they beat the now defunct Addlestone and Weybridge before losing to 2-1 to Swindon Town at the County Ground 2-1.

Officials at the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West club are also looking forward to banking a £12,500 TV bonus after their tie with National League Barrow was switched to a 2pm kick-off on Sunday to feature on the BBC’s Final Score highlights programme.

The Peacocks, who've already earned £29,425 in FA prize money since beating Cinderford Town in the preliminary round and triumphing at Hemel Hempstead Town in a fourth and final qualifying round replay, will earn the Football Association's fee for extended highlights, overseas broadcast or live single camera footage on a Sunday.

After the broadcasters BBC and BT Sport finalised details of their coverage at the weekend, Chesham United are also in line for a TV bonus too from their clash at League One Peterborough United with the FA's Saturday TV cup fee for set at £6,750 per club.
