Hot-shot Moore steps into hot-seat

By David Watters

Former Dagenham and Redbridge hot-shot Chris Moore is the new manager of EVO-STIK League Southern Egham Town.

A Football Conference champion with the Daggers under John Still in 2007, the 37-year-old was named as the successor to Gary Meakin by the Sarnies on Monday, four days after the departure of his predecessor from the Runnymede Stadium, pictured.

Moore is taking his first steps into management at the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central club alongside his newly appointed number two, Wayne Carter. Moore and Carter should make a charismatic duo. After both played under Meakin last season, Moore collected the 'Best Banter' award at the club's end of season awards.

Moore, who's also turned out for Brentford, Chelmsford City, Farnborough, Uxbridge and Wealdstone, beat a number of other candidates to the post who were also thanked by the Sarnies in a statement announcing his appointment.

The club said: "Egham Town Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Moore as manager and Wayne Carter as assistant manager and would like to thank everyone who expressed an interest in the position. In this very important season, with all the league changes, we know that we have made the right decision in appointing them."

Former Northwood, Wingate & Finchley, Beaconsfield SYCOB and Burnham boss Meakin stood down after nearly two years at the helm following his appointment in September 2015 as the successor to Trevor Norris. He called time on his tenure last week after guiding the club to a fifth-placed finish to the 2016-17 campaign.
