The Blues are staying on in the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight after the club's committee, members and fans overwhelmingly rejected an offer of investment from a consortium of local businessmen at a packed Annual General Meeting.
Officials at Creasey Park - who are looking for a new manager after Anthony Fontenelle stood down in the wake of the resignation of former chairman John McLoughlin at the end of the season - say no agreement could be agreed with playing at Step 5 of the Non-League pyramid a key condition of the deal.
According to a statement released by the Blues, both Fontenelle and McLoughlin cited the "perennial lack of funds" as a motivating factor while wishing the Bedfordshire club every success in the future.
Interim Dunstable Town chairman Alex Alexandrou believes their supporters' club, fans and members are made of stern stuff after they voted to retain the club’s present status at a packed meeting at Creasey Park.
Alexandrou said: "We have made a leap in the dark but we have one thing in common – to keep Dunstable Town in the Southern League, where we belong historically. We welcome approaches for the vacant managers position and offers of investment opportunities."
