The Rams – all set to kick off in the 2017-18 season as Beconsfield Town after officially changing their name this summer – appointed former Egham Town manager Gary Meakin as the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central club’s new boss on Monday before unveiling social media giants UNILAD as front of shirt sponsors for the upcoming campaign.
One of the biggest global platforms for breaking news, shareable and relatable content, social media powerhouse UNILAD was established by millennials for millennials and has amassed a Facebook following of over 18 million fans, 32 million monthly unique visitors and over three billion video views a month. The Rams will also be running out in new club colours after unveiling a brand new red kit displaying the UNILAD logo, pictured.
The summer of change at Holloways Park is being driven by new Rams chairman and local businessman Chris Coyle who’s already invested in the Buckinghamshire club and is committed to building a newly branded club operating at the heart of their community by developing local children’s and youth football at all ages for boys and girls.
Coyle said "These are exciting times at Holloways Park, with plans to move the club forward both on and off the pitch. The existing long-standing committee have been joined by fresh faces with enthusiasm and new ideas and with the right football management in place we know the club can achieve great things.
“We have also linked up with Beaconsfield Town Juniors, who have teams from U7 to U18 and we’re looking forward to working together to develop our local talent.”
Meakin, the successor to Andy Hurley and Leigh Wooldridge, left the Sarnies last week after guiding the club to a fifth placed finish and the promotion play-offs. According to Coyle, he has been tasked with recruiting and developing young players and supporting their desire to move on to careers with a professional clubs while building a successful side.
He added: “We were extremely impressed with the number of applications we had, and it was quite difficult to whittle down to a manageable number of interviews, such was the calibre of those we shortlisted. However, we believe Gary’s considerable experience in Non-League football will enable the club to progress in line with our objectives and I want to thank Egham Town for their courtesy.”
Meakin told fans he was looking forward to getting started on matching the club’s ambitions in the club statement announcing his appointment.
The new Rams boss, pictured, said: “I am thrilled to be joining such an ambitious club and can’t wait to get started. There are very few good jobs available at this level, and this is definitely one of the best. I know the club’s new board is ambitious and community orientated and I am very pleased to be part of that.”
