Happy ending after abandonment

Aylesbury United's Ollie Hogg is on the mend after he was first feared to have broken a leg in Saturday's abandoned EVO-STIK League Southern clash with Marlow.

The EVO-STIK League Southern Division Central fixture at Meadow View Park was suspended just after the hour mark with the visitors leading 2-0 after Hogg was caught in a tackle.

In serious discomfort, the former Tring Athletic, Leighton Town and Aylesbury FC midfielder, pictured, was treated on the pitch for an hour before the match was abandoned and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Ducks officials had wished their player a speedy recovery from a possible broken leg on Saturday night but on Sunday Hogg said he was already looking forward to returning after confirming that doctors had given him the all clear.

In a message thanking well-wishers on Twitter, he said: "Thanks for all the support and kind wishes from everyone! It's really appreciated. Pleased to say the X-ray results have come back with no breaks! Hopefully won't be long until I'm back in the pitch."

An industrious midfielder and product of Aylesbury FC's ranks, Hogg made the switch to the Ducks in summer of 2015 having spent much of the previous season with Tring Athletic. After spells back with Tring and then Leighton Town, he returned to finally make his competitive Aylesbury United debut in November 2015.
