Fans ensure ground passes muster

Fans have been helping Cinderford Town pass their latest ground-grading to play EVO-STIK League Southern football next season.

Foresters chairman Stu Tait thanked supporters ahead of the Easter weekend for helping to bring the Causeway ground, pictured, up to scratch after their home received a provisional D grade for the 2017-18 campaign this week following a recent inspection by ground-grading officials.

Tait lifted the spirits of fans following last weekend's relegation from the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight in a statement confirming some minor outstanding work on the pitch run-offs was set to be completed within days and expressing the club's gratitude for their dedication.

According to the Foresters chairman, their home will also be ready for them to bounce straight back following the addition of their facilities.

He said: “Having now been relegated we only need a D grade. We will ask next season to have it regraded as the C grade should be easily granted having adhered to all the requirements in preparations to when we return once again to the Southern Premier League.

“All Grade D requirements were completed and the C grade would have been had the new stand’s final bit of concreting been finished. We were complimented on the vast amount of work completed and they were extremely impressed with Ken Phelps’ design of the new stand, and the fact we went one step further by having a disabled ramp.

“So overall it’s been a fantastic effort by all the volunteers. The committee would like to put on record it’s sincere gratitude to all the companies who supplied us materials as without their help our goal would have not been achieved."

He added: “We are at last the community club we’ve been striving to become over the past season.”
