AFC Rushden & Diamonds moved back three points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik league South East table on Tuesday night following a comprehensive 4-0 win at Aylesbury FC.
On a bitterly cold night at the SRD Stadium, Diamonds took an 11th minute lead through Tom Lorraine and 5 minutes later were two-up through Ben Farrell.
Skipper Liam Dolman popped up to make it 3-0 to the league leaders after 25 minutes.
The lowly Moles gave a decent account of themselves in the second period before eventually conceding a fourth in the 2nd minute of time added on at the end of the game when Derek Feyi conceded a penalty which Dolman duly converted.
Cambridge City returned to fourth spot after beating ninth-placed Kempston Rovers by the same scoreline at Hillgrounds.
Jack Vasey opened the scoring after just 3 minutes when he got on the end of Ben Robinson’s excellent cross to head home.
City doubled their lead in the 18th minute with another Robinson assist, this time finding Ryan Sharman`s for his 25th goal of the season to date.
Then on 28 minutes it was 3-0 with Robinson this time finding the target himself.
And then in the 68th minute, Ryan Towner completed the scoring by netting City`s fourth.
Former Portsmouth and Luton striker Rowan Vine proved to Hartley Wintney`s hero as he bagged a brace to help them to a 2-1 home win over tenth-placed Ashford Town (Middx) and move into the top six.
The Hampshire hosts had to come back from being a Max Herbert goal down on the half-hour mark.
Vine grabbed the equaliser right on half-time and his second eventually arrived 2 minutes into stoppage time.
Aylesbury United moved up to fifth-from-bottom after a 1-0 win at inconsistent Marlow.
Ben Seaton scored the Ducks` winner in the 56th minute.
