As part of a drive to build their readership and celebrate the magazine's first anniversary, EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division clubs were sent 20 copies of the latest issue in September to sell to their fans and pocket the proceeds. Where they were all sold, the clubs banked the £60 raised from the £3 cover price.
The promotion for Issue 11, pictured, followed the success of a similar initiative with National League clubs that has seen many go on to become regular sellers of the magazine while sharing in its success.
After successfully teaming up with the EVO-STIK League Southern to pilot the free allocation offer, Non League Magazine editor Phil Brennan is hoping that many clubs will opt to keep on selling the glossy magazine while taking a big chunk of the cover price.
Brennan said: "The feedback we have received throughout the last year has proved that there has been a need for a magazine that is dedicated to the Non-League game and every issue has seen our readership grow.
"Our hope is that by providing the free copies to Southern League clubs, which of course enabled them to raise additional funds, we will grow our audience further with each issue. Issue 10 proved to be the first issue to ‘sell out’ completely and it is our intention to keep up with these promotions and grow our readership ‘organically’."
He added: "Our ultimate long-term aim is to allow us to provide the magazine free of charge to all member clubs every time we print copies – with all revenue staying with every club."
