Christmas Tuesday's Central Division review

By David Watters

There were two matches in the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One Central on Christmas Tuesday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Barton Rovers moved into fourth place following a 2-1 Sharpenhoe Road win over mid-table Chalfont St Peter.

Tom Smith gave Rovers a 36th minute lead they held until the break. Elliot Bailey then doubled the home side`s lead eight minutes into the second half. And although Tyrone Pink reduced the deficit in the 67th minute, Rovers held firm for the holiday spoils.

Hanwell Town hosted neighbours Uxbridge looking to mount pressure on the top five.

But instead the lowly Reds moved themselves up to sixteenth in the table following a 2-1 win in which they came from being a Dean Allen goal down on 40 minutes. Crucially though, Kevin Warner levelled right on half-time and then Mitch Wiseman`s 66th minute second proved to be the winner for the visitors.
