Christmas Tuesday's Premier Division review

By David Watters

Slough Town returned to second spot in the EVO-STIK League Southern's Premier Division table on Christmas Tuesday with a 3-2 comeback win at third-bottom Hayes & Yeading United, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The game was played on familiar territory for Slough – their former groundshare home of Holloways Park, where 473 were in holiday attendance.

And they saw the temporary hosts take a 2-0 lead, opening the scoring after 16 minutes when Mitchell Weiss finished well past Mark Scott in the Rebels` goal. And on the half-hour mark Hayes & Yeading added a second when, after Scott punched clear, Terry Carter poked past the keeper.

Two minutes after the break and Slough were back in the game when Lewis Putman curled in a free-kick and Mark Nisbet volleyed in past Danny Boness from just outside the six-yard box. And four minutes later it was all-square when a shot from skipper Sean Fraser deflected past Boness.

Slough substitute Warren Harris` strike came back off a post as the visitors looked for a winner, which came with 18 minutes to go when another sub, Gavin James, curled a neat effort past Boness into the bottom corner.
