Chairman won't rush appointment

Hayes & Yeading United will take their time over appointing a successor to Mickey Lewis as officials seek the right manager to quickly turn around their EVO-STIK League Southern campaign.

Former Oxford United player Lewis, pictured, quit last week with his side in 19th position in the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight only a few months only after his summer appointment.

He is staying to work with the club's academy while director of football Tristan Lewis will continue to guide the club despite not wanting the job on a permanent basis because of his role at the Pro-Direct Soccer Academy.

Chairman Tony O'Driscoll insisted he wouldn't be rushed this week as he considers his options after Lewis took charge of the 1-0 victory over St Ives Town in midweek.

Speaking before Saturday's 2-2 draw at King's Lynn Town, he told www.getwestlondon.co.uk: “We could rush it and have a new manager in place by Saturday but we want to make sure it's the right one. We've had all sorts of calls, texts and emails already, and we have a few names in mind. We've had a few managers with no experience, and this time we'll probably go for somebody who has managed before, preferably at this level.”
