Saturday's Central Division action review

By David Watters

Royston Town head the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central table by a point after the Crows won 1-0 at Love Lane against second-bottom Petersfield Town on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Experienced striker John Frendo was the Crows` match-winner, scoring the only goal in the 23rd minute.

Newcomers AFC Kempston Rovers remain second after beating fourth-bottom Kidlington 2-1 at Hillgrounds.

Sam Johnson gave the Walnut Boys the lead on the half-hour mark, only for Callum Harvey to equalise within four minutes. Danny Watson won it for the hosts on 64 minutes.

Third-placed Farnborough, however, suffered a 3-2 defeat at Aylesbury FC, who found themselves two down to goals from Dennis Oli after 25 minutes and Josh Huggins on 41 minutes. But a brace from James Faulkner after 63 and 65 minutes and a stunning winner from Ty Deacon eight minutes from time settled a pulsating game in the Moles` favour.

Another top five side to lose were Chalfont St Peter, beaten 3-2 by Bedford Town, whose Nathan Frater gave them a 28th minute lead that Adam Kirby after 35 minutes and Craig Tomkins right on half-time, cancelled out.

But an 86th minute Luke Knight penalty pulled the Eagles level and then a deflected Adam Watkins effort two minutes later won it for the visitors, who are now seventh.

Fleet Town were another side to win by the odd goal in five at Honeycroft against Uxbridge – a place the visitors have found difficult to get anything from in the past.

Despite falling behind to a 2nd minute Abobaker Eisa goal, Fleet led at the break with goals from Simba Mlambo, Pat Cox and Rob Carr, with Matty Woods replying in first half stoppage time.

Aylesbury United made it a good day for the town when the Ducks won 2-1 at the Glassworld Stadium against bottom side Histon.

Oliver Hogg bagged a brace for the visitors in the 10th and 19th minutes, Ben Yeomans replying four minutes after the break.

Marcus Mealing scored the only goal after 72 minutes to earn Marlow the points at home to Hanwell Town, while Tony Williams and a Jack Vasey brace sealed Arlesey Town`s 3-0 home win over Northwood.
