Comeback makes Beadle's week

Table-topping Hereford twice came from behind in the EVO-STIK League Southern on Saturday to make sure manager Peter Beadle's week ended on a high after he signed his first contract with the Edgar Street club.

The 44-year-old former Bristol Rovers and Bristol City striker, pictured, guided his Bulls to a 3-2 win at Wimbourne Town in EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West only days after agreeing a one-year rolling deal.

Appointed in April 2015 after previously serving as a caretaker boss of the old Hereford United, Beadle led the Bulls to a Midland League championship and cup double as well as the FA Vase final last season.

In a statement on the club's website, club officials said contract talks with their popular boss had been underway since May.

Football director Martin Watson said: “We agreed as a Board to make an offer to Peter several months ago but we’ve all been quite relaxed on the process so it’s not been done in a couple of weeks.

“The success of the club in the first season was far beyond what anyone could have wished for 18 months ago. Peter has been a central figure to that, and it is deserved that he is rewarded for his efforts.”

Beadle said: “I’m delighted to confirm my commitment to the club. I firmly believe that the journey has still only just begun and that we have a lengthy story still to tell. The Board have been incredibly supportive of my efforts and we are all keen to push on again this season.”

Hereford chairman Jon Hale added: “Peter has, from day one, demonstrated his abilities, experience and man management to bring about the very best for Hereford FC and we have been very keen to reward that with the security of a contract.

“His ability to bring the best out of players, identify and recruit players to improve the squad and to make hard decisions when needed have been instrumental in our success to date, and we are pleased to make formal his employment with the club.”

* Beadle signed Adam Davies from EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division club Merthyr Town ahead of the weekend's action.

The former Monmouth Town star made 115 appearances for the Martyrs, scoring one goal, and played a key role in the club's 2014-15 double winning season when they won the Southern League Cup as well as promotion to the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight.
