Basingstoke Town board up to five

THE new Board of Basingstoke Town Community Football Club has increased to five with the addition of another former player and manager, Colin Stoker.

He joins Alan Turvey, Steve Williams, Will Wilkinson and Martin French.

Stoker managed the club when they won the Southern League title in 1985 with some talented local players.

As a professional engineer, his last full time role was a partner in an international project and cost management consultancy.

Having served as chairman of Basingstoke Golf Club and worked to develop young golfers into adult champions, the new addition to the board has a good background for the needs of the new Community club.

He is especially interested in building on the achievements of the sports educational academy and the community coaching scheme and sees the development of young players from the community critical to the clubs' success.

Community Club chairman Alan Turvey said: "We are delighted to see Colin coming forward to make a strong team even stronger."
