Barnstaple Town’s relegation battle will go down to the final day of the season after another disappointing week.
Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Shortwood United was followed by a crushing 5-1 home loss to North Leigh on Tuesday night.
A point would have been enough for Barum, but Bishops Cleeve’s 3-2 win at Shortwood means Town are just two points behind them.
Although Barnstaple’s joint-manager Kevin Darch says his side will do everything they can to ensure survival, he says there are bigger issues to think about at the club.
“What will be will be,” he said. “There are probably more important things to be worrying about than whether the club get relegated at the minute.
“Obviously we want to stay up for personal pride, but it’s tough times for the club ahead, and I don’t think that will change whether we stay up or go down.
“I think people need to face reality that there’s going to be a bit of a long road ahead for the future of Barnstaple.”
A point at Swindon Supermarine will be enough for Town on Saturday, and Darch refuses to blame his players for the club’s struggles this season.
