Tuesday's Premier Division action review

By David Watters

Tuesday night's action was important for both ends of the EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division table, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Leaders Chippenham Town had the opportunity to move seven points clear at the top of the table when they travelled to struggling Kings Langley for the first time.

The league newcomers had drifted towards the drop zone after a five-game spell without a win but they broke the deadlock just shy of the hour-mark through Jorell Johnson. And it took an 84th minute own goal from Xavier Comas Leon to salvage a point for the high-flying Bluebirds.

Second-bottom Hayes & Yeading United are now four points adrift of the safety-mark after going down to a 3-2 defeat at Holloways Park to mid-table Basingstoke Town.

Marcus Johnson-Schuster gave the visitors a 14th minute lead that Aaron Jarvis immediately doubled. But United were level at half-time after goals from Connor Toomey after 23 minutes and Mitchell Weiss five minutes before the whistle. However, the only goal of the second half came from Stoke`s Joe Gater on 63 minutes.

Fifth-bottom St Neots Town made it back-to-back wins to be three points in front of the drop zone.

The Saints beat eighth-placed Chesham United 4-1 at home, taking a 27th minute lead through a Jevani Brown penalty before Drew Roberts equalised less than a minute later. But Brown went on to complete his hat-trick in the 32nd and 71st minutes, with James Tricks adding a fourth five minutes from time.

Stratford Town pushed themselves ten points clear of the bottom four after a 2-1 win at Biggleswade Town.

Liam Francis gave the visitors the breakthrough 10 minutes after half-time. A Jean Kalenda own goal pulled the Waders back on level terms 19 minutes from time, but Mike Taylor won it for Stratford with eight minutes remaining.

Mid-table sides Weymouth and Dunstable Town shared six goals at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The Duns led 3-0 with goals from Brad Hewitt after six minutes and Vences Bola with a quickfire brace after 37 and 38 minutes. Mark Molesley reduced the deficit five minutes before half-time but the second half belonged to the Terras.

They fought back with goals in the 82nd minute, courtesy of a Danny Talbot own goal and then four minutes into stoppage time from Ashley Wells.
