Tuesday's Premier Division action review

By David Watters

Slough Town moved three points clear at the top of the EVO-STIK League Southern's Premier Division table after they beat third-placed Leamington and second-placed Dunstable Town lost at Redditch United, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A crowd of 687 at Arbour Park saw Gavin James give the Rebels a 36th minute lead that James Dobson eventually added to in the 66th minute.

A Denico Johnson effort 17 minutes from time proved enough for Redditch against the Duns to move to eighth in the table. Chippenham Town and Hitchin Town, who both won on Monday night, occupy the other two top five spots.

Chippenham, beaten 4-0 at King`s Lynn Town last weekend, won 3-1 at Dorchester Town with Andy Sandell giving them the lead from the penalty spot on the half-hour mark.

Jake Smeeton equalised seven minutes after half-time but Mark Preece on 67 minutes and Sandell again two minutes later, stretched the Bluebirds lead.

Chesham United are sixth after beating a now second-bottom Cambridge City side 3-1 at The Meadow.

Cambridge had Dean Mason sent-off as they went down to their fourth straight defeat in all competitions. However, they started well enough with a second minute Cemal Ramadan goal, only for Ryan Blake to equalise just five minutes later.

Bradley Watkins after 20 minutes and then Dave Pearce a couple of minutes from the end of the game sealed the Generals` win.

A last minute goal from Jack Self earned hosts Banbury United a point in a game in which they were second best to Merthyr Town.

Jarrad Wright headed Merthyr in front on 28 minutes in a first half that Merthyr dominated.

But right at the death, good work by George Jeacock on the right saw his low cross into the centre struck home at the far post by the incoming Jack Self for the equaliser.

Kettering Town flattered to deceive again as they were held to a 1-1 Latimer Park draw by Hayes & Yeading United in front of 409.

The visitors, relegated from National League South at the end of last season, had a great start when Yannis Amboisine put them ahead inside the opening minute. Liam Canavan eventually pulled the Poppies back on level terms on the hour-mark and neither side could find a winner.

Inih Effiong`s early eighth minute effort proved enough to earn Biggleswade Town derby bragging rights at St Ives Town, while Ross Langworthy shocked hosts Basingstoke Town as his 32nd minute goal eventually earned Cirencester Town victory to move off second-bottom spot.

Bottom-markers Cinderford Town earned a home point against Weymouth.

Ben Thomson put the Terras in front after 21 minutes. But Blaine Waugh five minutes after the break and Karnell Chambers just past the hour-mark, turned the game in the Foresters` favour, only for Stephane Zubar to salvage a point for the visitors 14 minutes from time.

The game of Kings saw honours` even at The Walks.

In front of a crowd of 446, visiting Kings Langley took a 37th minute lead through Josh Chamberlain before recent signing Kurtis Revan cancelled that out for the hosts after 65 minutes.
