Tuesday's Evo-Stik South, West Round-Up

By Jack Moore

It took a dozen attempts, but Bishops Cleeve finally broke their duck in the Evo-Stik League South West on Tuesday night.

leeve beat Shortwood United 4-0 at home to record their first win of the 2017/18 season.

Ben Tunicliff opened the scoring after just 6 minutes – and that was the half-time score.

Joe Bates then made it 2-0 with 66 minutes gone on the clock, with Elliot Kennedy on 72 minutes and then Paul Ireland 6 minutes later making the home players celebrate for the first time this season.

There was a shock too at the other end of the table as second-placed Bristol Manor Farm suffered a third defeat, 3-1 at Bidford.

Craig Duff gave the home side a 13th minute lead that Jordan Metters cancelled out 7 minutes after the break.

But it wasn`t until the final 20 minutes that the hosts pulled away with a brace from Ryan Turner.

Swindon Supermarine moved up to fifth after Connor Thompson`s 27th minute effort eventually proved enough to beat AFC Totton at the WebbsWood Stadium.

Cirencester Town won the derby at Cinderford Town by the odd goal in five, taking a 6th minute lead through Ben Whitehead.

Henry Spalding doubled Ciren`s lead 9 minutes later, only for Lewis Bamford to reduce the deficit 4 minutes later.

Whitehead`s second on 39 minutes made it 3-1 to the visitors, with Declan Morley-Lyne`s reply for the Foresters not arriving until 3 minutes from the end.

Dejon Noel-Williams` 65th minute goal sealed North Leigh`s home win over Mangotsfield United, while Joe Chandler`s early 8th minute effort did likewise for Paulton Rovers at home to Wimborne Town.
