Tuesday's Central Division action review

Kempston Rovers and Egham Town both boosted their play-off chances in the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One Central on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Kempston Rovers 2-0 win at home to Ashford Town (Middx) kept the Sarnies from rising to sixth place after Gary Meakin’s men enjoyed a comfortable win against relegation certainties Petersfield Town.

At Hillgrounds, Ashley Fuller broke the deadlock to give Kempston the lead four minutes after half-time. Recent signing Jake Newman doubled the Walnut Boys` advantage with 17 minutes remaining.

At Love Lane, Elliott Carey opened the scoring for Egham with a 25-yards effort in the fifth minute.

Brendan Matthew scored number two after 20 minutes and headed a third on 39 minutes before Jordan Berry took advantage of some shambolic defending for the fourth just before the break. Bajram Pashaj grabbed his third in three games in the second half to complete the Sarnies nap hand.

Kempston and Egham are now two and three points respectively behind fifth-placed AFC Dunstable.
