Tuesday's Central Division action review

By David Watters

Royston Town produced a title-winning performance on Tuesday night to hammer second-placed Farnborough 5-0 and move eight points clear at the top of the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One Central table, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Crows were three-up at the break at Garden Walk, courtesy of Martel Powell after 21 minutes and a brace from recent signing, the experienced striker Matt Nolan, after 43 and 45 minutes.

Scott Bridges made sure there was to be no Boro comeback with a fourth just past the hour-mark, and Adam Murray made it a nap hand 15 minutes from time.

A late penalty denied Barton Rovers all three points that would have taken them to within five points of Farnborough.

Rovers led through Ben Martin`s 58th minute effort at Sharpenhoe Road against another top five contender, Potters Bar Town. But the Scholars grabbed a point and sixth spot, thanks to an 83rd minute penalty from Ashley Nathaniel-George.

Third-bottom Aylesbury FC picked up a useful point from a 2-2 draw at Chalfont St Peter, coming back from two-down.

A Jake Cass brace either side of half-time gave the Saints their two-goal cushion. Ty Deacon reduced the deficit midway through the second half and then Brian Haule, just re-signed by new manager brother Davis, grabbed the equaliser in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Uxbridge won the derby at Northwood 2-1 in the evening`s other game.

The Reds led through Abobaker Eisa`s 32nd minute opener until the 65th minute when Wayne Carter doubled the visitors` lead, rendering James Budden`s 84th minute reply as just a consolation.
