Tributes planned for media man

EVO-STIK League Southern Wimbourne Town are mourning the sudden passing of their press officer Richard Button.

Originally from the Midlands and a reporter with many publications over the years including The Non-League Paper, NonLeagueToday and nonleaguedaily.com, the Magpies stalwart passed away last Friday night in his sleep.

Saddened Magpies officials are planning to pay tribute to their late official on Saturday when they host North Leigh at the W+S Stadium in EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West.

In a touching statement on their website, a Wimbourne Town spokesman said: "Richard was our press officer for a number of years and will be remembered by so many for working tirelessly on behalf of the club, issuing press releases to as many publications as he could to profile Wimborne Town FC to the max.

"Richard was a larger than life character, had a superb sense of humour and will be missed by so many people. We will organise a tribute to Richard at our next home game, something fitting for the great man he was. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. RIP Richard, sleep well and don't stop giving us your opinion, you'll find a way..."
