The Rebels put any fears their fans may have harboured of being jinxed quickly to bed at Arbour Park on Tuesday night with a 2-1 win over Dorchester Town after joint managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood were presented with the club's top flight award and prize, a glass trophy and 4.5L bottle of Bells Whisky to toast their success - before kick-off.
Named as one of September's trio of winning clubs alongside Kempston Rovers in EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central and Mangotsfield United in Division One South & West, Slough followed up their midweek win with a 4-1 victory on Saturday over the Ryman League's Bognor Regis Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy to confirm that their only reverse in league action since the awards were announced - a 4-1 reverse at Basingstoke the previous weekend - had merely been a blip.
The monthly performance awards are being sponsored again this season by the Southern League's title sponsors EVO-STIK to recognise and reward the top performers among the 68 clubs playing in three divisions.
Baker and Underwood's side have been flying since the start of the season and collected the top flight's second accolade of the campaign for winning all four of their league outings in September, results that laid the foundations for them to top the table in the weeks that followed.
Along the way, they also won two Emirates FA Cup ties with impressive victories over Chipstead and Cambridge City in the first and second qualifying rounds respectively.
