Terras will not fear Chesham United

WEYMOUTH assistant manager Paul Maitland says the Terras do not fear going to Chesham as they gear up to travel to their fellow play-off hunting rivals in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division tomorrow (3pm).

Chesham currently sit just outside the play-offs, one place and six points behind fifth place Slough Town, while Weymouth are well entrenched in the play-offs, sitting third with 78 points.

Maitland said: “It will be a tough day but they are the games you want to be involved in.

“I would expect us to raise our levels again going there, we tend to raise our levels against the better sides even more so we certainly do not fear going there but we are mindful it will be a difficult game.”

Maitland is wary of Chesham’s league position, given that a loss to Weymouth would spell the end of the Generals’ play-off ambitions as two of the sides directly above them, Kettering and Slough, both have games in hand.

Maitland said: “Their league position suggests it will be another tough game for us and that we will have to improve on our past performance to achieve a positive result.

“They are just outside the play-offs and they will know that they probably need to beat us to bring themselves back into the mix for the play-offs.”
