Stone signs for Pike's touchline team

Gosport Borough boss Alex Pike has added Steve Stone to his touchline team for the club's return to the EVO-STIK League Southern.

The former Fareham Town boss will work alongside Pike, pictured with the FA Trophy, goalkeeping coach Nick Jordan and newly installed assistant manager Danny Thompson when the Hampshire club returns to the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight for the first time since winning promotion in 2013 via the play-offs.

UEFA A licenced coach and FA coaching tutor Stone, pictured below, brings a wealth of coaching experience with the Royal Navy and Army representative teams to succeed Tony Stares as first-team coach after his predecessor stepped up this summer to succeed Mark Hook as chairman at The Aerial Direct Stadium.

Pike, who's seen supporters chip in to boost his playing budget since a fans forum, has already secured the services of a number of his squad from last term as the club prepares to bounce back in the EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division come the big kick-off on Saturday 12 August.

As well as keepers Nick Jordan, Ellis Grant and Lewis Watch, Aaron Dawson, Declan McCarthy, Alfie Lis, Connor May and Richie Whittingham have all committed to the upcoming campaign following their relegation from National League South.
