St Neots given six of the best by Frome Town

We were toothless !!

St Neots Town boss Matt Clements claimed that Saturday’s result could have been in double figures following their 6-1 thumping at home to Frome Town.

Clements’ side put in a surprisingly lacklustre performance as they fell to their joint-biggest defeat of the season against a side that started the day level on points with St Neots.

Dion Sembie-Ferris grabbed a late consolation for the home side, but Clements was under no illusion that his side had put in a thoroughly disappointing display.

“There was no fight, it was very toothless, and there was a lack of a lot of things, really. I think that was the biggest disappointment, to go down in that manner was so poor. It is hard to take,” Clements said.

“Looking in context, winning a game was a one-off last season, you took it and you enjoyed it. We were fighting fires constantly. It’s been a turnaround this year, which is good, but you really find out more about people and individuals within the squad when this happens.

“We’ve lost a few games before, but not in that manner. Not where it was 6-1, and if it was nine or ten it wouldn’t have flattered them.

“It did look like every time we went forward we lacked ideas, but whenever they went forward they just walked through us and opened us up at will. The manner of the performance was poor, and it needs to be corrected very quickly.”

St Neots have an immediate opportunity to put the defeat behind them when they travel to Royston Town tomorrow night.

Clements said that every place in tomorrow’s line-up has been put into question, and has guaranteed changes will be made.

“Over the past few months, a lot of players have deserved to get a lot of credit, so I don’t take that away from them. A lot of them have been absolutely fantastic,” Clements said.

“However, off that performance alone, there is no player who can say they’re definitely going to play tomorrow night, because it was that poor as a collective.
