St Ives will wait

Until the summer

St Ives Town manager Ricky Marheineke has admitted he now won’t be appointing a new assistant until the summer.

Marheineke was hoping to bring in a coach currently involved with a Football League club to replace Jack Cassidy, who left for Bedford Town earlier this month.

Although the talks came to nothing for now, Marheineke, whose side host Royston Town tomorrow, hopes they are not dead in the water

“The person I was speaking to wasn’t sure of his work commitments, and the last thing I want is to make an appointment and then be back to square one in the summer,” he said.

“There’s still hope that I may be able to bring in the person I’m after, but I’ll go it alone for the rest of the season and see where we stand in the summer.”

In the meantime, Marheineke will be assisted by first team coach Ryan Semple and ladies' team manager Darren Marjoram.
