Sponsors offer firm foundations

EVO-STIK League Southern Banbury United are celebrating a major new sponsorship deal with local firm SMR Projects Ltd.

The Puritans say SMR having booked advertising around the pitch as well as in their match-day programme for the 2016-17 EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division season.

The Banbury-based firm are the UK distributors for the Xypex concrete waterproofing system. Recent projects they've been involved include The Shard and the Battersea Power Station Regeneration.

SMR managing director Mike Finch was a regular at United’s games last season as Mike Ford’s side won promotion to the the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight via the Division One South & West play-offs at the first attempt after finishing as runners-up.

Pictured right alongside Banbury's commercial director Mark Allitt at The Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium, he said: “The team has been fantastic to watch and they’ve just completed a brilliant season.

“Everything seems to be moving in the right direction and it’s a credit to everyone involved with the club, so I really wanted to help and support what they’re now doing.”

Banbury United chairman Ronnie Johnson said: “I’m delighted to welcome Mike and his team into our sponsors group. SMR is a flourishing company based in Banbury which has undertaken some major projects across the UK.”

Another local business, Spratt Endicott Solicitors, also booked a similar deal with United’s Allitt this week and added: "We’re delighted that another local company has decided to come on board."
