Second performance kings named!

By David Watters

Slough Town, Kempston Rovers and Mangotsfield United are September's EVO-STIK League Southern's Team of the Month winners.

The trio were named on Monday as the second winners of the monthly competition which is sponsored by the Southern League's title sponsors EVO-STIK to recognise and reward the top performers among the 68 clubs playing in three divisions.

Like this season's inaugural winners Chippenham Town, Farnborough and Hereford, the trio are now looking forward to being presented with cut glass trophies to record their achievements and 4.5L bottles of Bell's Whisky to celebrate their success at upcoming fixtures by representatives of the league and EVO-STIK.

Top flight winners Slough Town are currently four points clear with a game in hand at the top of the EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division table. Flying since the start of the season under joint managers Neil Baker and Jon Underwood, pictured, the Rebels built up a head of steam in September to win the award by taking maximum points from four league outings.

Along the way, they also won two Emirates FA Cup ties with impressive victories over Chipstead and Cambridge City in the first and second qualifying rounds respectively.

A managerial double act also led Kempston Rovers to success in EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central, Jimmy Stoyles and Gary Flinn's second place side taking nine points from nine in the league while reaching the second qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Mangotsfield United manager Dave Mehew can take any credit going for his second-placed side's success in EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West after they were named as the division's winners for their three victories in three league outings last month.
