Saturday's South & West action review

By David Watters

Hereford FC are four points clear at the top of the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One South & West table but had to make do with a point from a 2-2 draw with Didcot Town at Edgar Street on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Former Didcot striker John Mills opened the scoring for the Bulls on the half-hour mark and then Mike Symons doubled it on 37 minutes. But shortly after the break, Ryan Green conceded a penalty and was dismissed – Ben Whitehead duly converting the resulting spot-kick.

It looked as though the ten-men would hold out, but then, in the second minute of stoppage time, Jordan Graham stunned the vast majority of the terrific crowd of 3,020 with the leveller.

Mangotsfield United lost second spot after now fifth-placed Shortwood United ended their unbeaten home record in emphatic fashion, running out 5-1 winners.

Jake Lee helped himself to a hat-trick for the visitors, whose Adam Price and Antonio Alcarez-Zamora were also on the mark, with Liam Monelle netting a late consolation for the Mangos.

Tiverton Town leap-frogged Mangotsfield into second spot after a 3-2 win at North Leigh.

Levin Landricombe gave Tivvy a 27th minute lead that Lance Williams and Morgan Williams cancelled out before half-time. But Tom Bath on the hour-mark and then Owen Howe on 63 minutes sealed Tivvy`s win.

Swindon Supermarine are fourth after a comprehensive 5-0 win at second-bottom Bridgwater Town in which Josh Parsons, Connor Waldon and Ashley Taylor had them 3-0 up by half-time. George Reid and Callum Parsons added the others to make it a nap hand for `Marine.

Bottom-markers Wantage Town lost 1-0 at home to Wimborne Town, whose Stefan Penny was the goalscorer on 31 minutes, while Evesham United were another side to hit five at home to Larkhall Athletic.

Lance Smith scored the opening three for the hosts after Joe Tumelty had given the Larks a 13th minute lead. Mark Magee made it 4-1 in the 86th minute and then Smith bagged his fourth from the spot – Larks` keeper Ben John seeing red for the concession.

Salisbury FC also hit five at the Ray Mac against Barnstaple Town.

A crowd of 621 saw Tommy Wright score the only first half goal from the spot. But Justin Bennett bagged a brace and Kane O`Keefe and Lewis Benson singles to make it 5-0 in the second period.

Reeko Best gave Paulton Rovers the lead in the fifth minute at Bideford, who earned a point thanks to Kevin Squire 19 minutes from the end.

Jake Ball and Kyle Thomas scored Yate Town`s goals in their 2-1 win at Bishops Cleeve, whose Luke Hitchman had levelled.

Elsewhere, Jordan Rogers, Owen Irish and Alex Hoyle were Taunton Town`s marksmen at home in a 3-1 win over Winchester City, whose Howard Neighbour converted a very late consolation spot-kick.
