Saturday's South & West action review

By David Watters

With EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West leaders Hereford on Emirates FA Cup duty, Mangotsfield United took full advantage to move to within a point of the Bulls in second, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

They beat neighbours Paulton Rovers 2-1 at Cossham Street with Lewis Powell bagging a brace in the 14th and 49th minutes.

Rovers had equalised through Kallan Gould in the 28th minute, but their chances of levelling the game virtually disappeared when they had Will Haiston dismissed for a second bookable offence 20 minutes from time.

Tiverton Town are third after a comfortable 3-0 win at second-bottom Wantage Town, courtesy of goals from Craig Duff after 21 minutes and a double for Owen Howe after 69 and 70 minutes.

Shortwood United complete the top five after a good 3-1 win at Bideford.

A Dan Harrison own goal set the visitors up and running after 15 minutes. Ben Watson equalised on the hour-mark, but less than five minutes later, Shortwood were back in front through Adam Price. And they confirmed victory a minute from time with a third from Will Morford.

Bridgwater Town picked up only their third point of the season to date after a 2-2 Fairfax Park draw with seventh-placed Wimborne Town.

Luke Holmes gave the Magpies a 32nd minute lead that Syd Camper cancelled out a minute after half-time. Ben Palmer then gave Bridgwater hope of a first win with a 78th minute second, only for Holmes to grab his and Wimborne`s second four minutes later.

A change of manager at AFC Totton but still only one win to date after a 1-1 Testwood Park draw with Yate Town, whose Mitch Tippins cancelled out Nathaniel Sherborne`s 41st minute opener for the Stags in the 58th minute.

Didcot Town looked to be heading for a 1-0 win at Bishops Cleeve, courtesy of Luke Carnell`s 79th minute effort. But Cleeve grabbed a 93rd minute equaliser from a Jack Horrell spot-kick.
