Saturday's Premier Division action review

By David Watters

Saturday`s reduced fixture list in the EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Division saw Leamington move into second place after hitting bottom-markers Cinderford Town for six, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A crowd of 402 at the New Windmill Ground saw Cinderford disintegrate in the final 12 minutes after being 2-0 down to goals from Rob Thompson-Brown after 16 minutes and Darren Pond on the hour-mark.

Courtney Baker-Richardson added number three in the 78th minute and then Thompson-Brown again, Jack Edwards and Baker-Richardson again, made the final score 6-0.

Two other teams in the bottom four, Cirencester Town and Cambridge City, couldn`t find a goal between them.

The Centurians were held 0-0 at home by Hitchin Town in Charlie Griffin`s first game in charge, while City were also goalless at St Ives against Stratford Town.

City`s landlords, St Ives, were beaten 2-1 at Kings Langley, who are now twelfth.

Connor Toomey gave Kings a 48th minute breakthrough that Ben Seymour-Shove cancelled out on 64 minutes. But Joe Gallagher notched the home side`s winner two minutes into stoppage time.

Third-placed Dunstable Town were shocked 3-1 at home by Basingstoke Town.

Ramone Rose gave the visitors a 16th minute lead that Jack Hutchinson levelled just after the break. But Nana Owusu and Richard Whittingham netted within two minutes midway through the half to win it for `Stoke.

In the day`s only other game, a Craig Daniel brace in the 15th and 30th minutes proved enough to earn Biggleswade Town victory at the Carlsberg Stadium against seventh-placed Redditch United.
