Saturday's Central Division action review

By David Watters

Former Football League striker Matt Nolan notched four times for Royston Town on Saturday to help EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central leaders hammer bottom-markers Petersfield Town 6-0 at Garden Walk, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

It was only 2-0 at the break but Scott Bridges and Rod Orlando-Young joined in the fun to make it a resounding win to maintain the Crows` five-point lead at the top.

Second-placed Farnborough also won but managed only one at Cherrywood Road against third-bottom Aylesbury FC, courtesy of Ed Smith on 25 minutes.

AFC Dunstable are now third after they won by the odd goal in five at Ashford Town (Middx) with goals from Jermaine Hall with two – the second from the spot – and Nathan Frater two minutes from time after Dan Fleming`s brace for the Tangerines.

The teams occupying fifth, sixth and seventh positions respectively, Barton Rovers, Kempston Rovers and Potters Bar Town, all lost.

Barton were beaten 2-1 at Holloways Park by Beaconsfield SYCOB, for whom Aaron Milnes opened the scoring and Tom Smith levelled just before the break. Callum Bunting`s winner for SYCOB came three minutes into stoppage time at the end of the game.

The Walnut Boys lost 1-0 at Kidlington, for whom Lewis Coyle scored three minutes before the break to take the points.

The Scholars lost 2-1 at home to Fleet Town, despite leading through Eoin Casey`s goal just before half-time until the 75th minute when player boss Craig Davis levelled and then Danilo Cadette won it for the Hampshire side.

Second-bottom Histon lost 1-0 at Thame against Aylesbury United, for whom Bruno Lobo De Brito scored 19 minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Bedford Town edged out Chalfont St Peter 3-2 at the New Eyrie with goals from Devante Stanley, Lee Roache and Ben Sawyer – Gary Burrell and Tyrone Pink replying.

Arlesey Town won 3-0 at Chestnut Avenue against Northwood, thanks to Taylor Rhiney, Jack Vasey and Josh Coley, while Egham Town beat Uxbridge 6-4 t the Runnymede Stadium.

Brendan Matthew and veteran Richard Pacquette both bagged braces for the Sarnies, with Ryan Parsons and Bajram Pashaj also on target. Northwood's Matty Woods must be feeling aggrieved as he scored a hat-trick in a losing cause, Anthony Thomas scoring the other.
