Saturday's Central Division action review

Leaders Royston Town are now five points clear of second-placed Farnborough, who were held to a draw, after coming out on top in a ten-goal thriller at Holloways Park against mid-table Beaconsfield SYCOB.

The Crows led 2-0 with goals from John Frendo and Ryan Frater before Callum Bunting replied from the spot on 25 minutes. Josh Castiglione added a third for the leaders on the half-hour mark before Jack McKnight reduced their lead to one right on half-time.

Royston then stretched out to 5-2 up with goals from Rod Orlando-Young and Castiglione again shortly after half-time, only for Charlie Losasso and Bunting again to give SYCOB hope by the 67th minute. However, Adam Watkins scored a sixth for the Crows in stoppage time to make the final score 6-4!

Farnborough were victims of a comeback by hosts Potters Bar Town, who are seventh, just three points off the top five themselves.

Boro led with goals from Ed Smith from the spot after two minutes and Perry Coles after 24 minutes. Michael Murray reduced the deficit 11 minutes into the second half and then, four minutes into time added on at the end of the game, Ashley Nathaniel-George earned a last-gasp penalty draw for the Scholars.

None of the remainder of the top five managed a win on Saturday though. Third and fourth-placed Barton Rovers and Kempston Rovers respectively were both held to draws, while fifth-placed Marlow were beaten at home.

Rovers were held 3-3 at Sharpenhoe Road by struggling Aylesbury FC, who belied their third-bottom placing to come back three times after being behind to goals from Connor Calcutt on four and 60 minutes and Jimmy Hartley on 55 minutes. Josh Bamford bagged a brace for the Moles and Ben Bateman grabbed the equaliser on 67 minutes.

Seb Simpson gave Kempston a 25th minute lead at Hanwell Town, whose Courtney Austin eventually salvaged a draw 11 minutes from time.

Egham Town got themselves back on the fringes of the play-off race after winning 2-1 at Marlow with goals from Chris Moore after 21 minutes and Jordan Berry a minute before the break. Chris Overton pulled one back immediately from the spot, but the home side weren`t able to find an equaliser.

AFC Dunstable put pressure on Marlow after winning 4-0 at Creasey Park against Chalfont St Peter, thanks to a brace from Adiel Mannion and from Courtney Massay and BJ Christie.

Second-bottom Histon recorded only their third win of the season to date in beating bottom-markers Petersfield Town 2-1 at the Glassworld Stadium, thanks to Ben Yeomans after 37 minutes and Tommy Wright 19 minutes from time – Matt Andrews pulling one back for the Hampshire side from the spot nine minutes from the end.

Fleet Town blew Kidlington away at Calthorpe Park, winning 6-1 and scoring four goals in the final 14 minutes from Zach Hawker, Ben White, Danilo Cadette and Pat Cox. They came after Lewis Coyle had pulled one back for the visitors on 65 minutes after Josh Francis and White had put Fleet 2-0 up by the 12th minute.

Uxbridge win 3-0 at Arlesey Town, courtesy of Matt Woods after eight minutes, a Josh Steele own goal on 52 minutes and Abobaker Eisa in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Aylesbury United edged out Northwood 2-1 at Thame with goals from Troy Witter after 47 minutes and Sonny French seven minutes from time, rendering Gradi Milenge`s goal three minutes into stoppage time as just a consolation.
