First donation from fundraising fans

Stratford Town's players should be in better shape than ever for the second half of the EVO-STIK League Southern season thanks to their fundraising fans.

Members of the new Stratford Town Independent Supporters’ Association handed over an ultrasound scanner to physio Joe Perkins before the club's 4-2 win over Cinderford Town in the EVO-STIK League Southern's top flight on New Year Bank Holiday Monday.

Founded in September to strengthen the voice of fans and support the club financially and with volunteers, STISA's first donation will help speed up the recovery of players from ligament, muscle and tendon injuries and was officially handed over by the group's chairman Rob Maisey.

Pictured with Perkins on the pitch and in the treatment room at The DCS Stadium, Maisey said: “The acquisition of the scanner is the perfect example of what our association is all about.

"Our sole aim is to help the football club grow and prosper, and if we can do this by providing items which the club might not otherwise be able to afford then we are more than happy to do so.”

Perkins was delighted with his new piece of kit for looking after the squad of Town manager Carl Adams.

“This will be a tremendous asset," said the physio. "Anything that assists in returning players to full fitness as quickly as possible is invaluable and I am very grateful to the association for funding its purchase.”

STISA's next members meeting takes place at the DCS Stadium on Monday 9 January at 8pm.
