Saturday's Central Division action review

By David Watters

Farnborough and Royston Town will head into Chrismas as joint leaders of the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One Central table, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Boro won 2-1 at Cherrywood Road against sixth-placed AFC Dunstable, while the Crows won 5-3 at Garden Walk against mid-table Ashford Town (Middx).

Two goals in three first half minutes from Sam Pearce – the first from the penalty spot – eventually earned Boro their win, despite BJ Christie`s 80th minute reply.

Joe Green bagged a brace for Ashford and Mark Bitmead the other but they were outgunned by doubles for John Frendo and Rod Orlando-Young and one from Scott Bridges for Royston.

Marlow moved up to fourth spot after beating third-placed Kempston Rovers at Hillgrounds.

Ashley Fuller had the Walnut Boys ahead after 15 minutes but an Allan Bossman brace in the 77th and 83rd minutes turned the game in the visitors` favour.

Marlow also moved above Barton Rovers, who are fifth after losing 2-0 at Chestnut Avenue against Northwood, for whom Ryan Debattista and Channing Campbell-Young scored midway through either half.

Potters Bar Town could have joined Barton on 40 points but had to make do with just one from their visit to the Runnymede Stadium against Egham Town, whose Louis Stead cancelled out Michael Murray`s 21st minute opener in the very last minute.

Hanwell Town are back in top five contention after a 1-0 win at struggling Aylesbury FC – Dean Allen`s 23rd minute spot-kick proving decisive.

The bottom two though are becoming stranded. Bottom-markers Petersfield Town were hammered 6-0 at Love Lane by in-form Beaconsfield SYCOB, for whom this was a sixth straight win.

Charlie Losasso gave SYCOB the lead five minutes before the break, but the hosts had been reduced to nine-men following the dismissals of Harry Giles and Nick Awford.

It was too much for them in the second half as Spencer Maw went on to complete a hat-trick, with Aaron Minhas and Callum Bunting adding singles.

Histon were beaten 2-0 at Chalfont St Peter, whose Kofi Lockhart-Adams and Tyrone Pink scored first half goals.

Kidlington were the day`s other winners, seeing off Arlesey Town 2-0 at home with goals from Anaclet Odhiambo on 38 minutes and Callum Harvey on the hour-mark.

Saturday's other two matches ended in draws.

Jon-Jo Bates gave Uxbridge a 12th minute lead at Honeycroft, only for Greg Williams to pull Aylesbury United level eight minutes later, while at the New Eyrie, Andrew Phillips` 25th minute opener for Bedford Town was cancelled out 15 minutes from time by Fleet Town`s Pat Cox.
