Boro couldn`t have asked for a better start as they scored with their first attack in the opening minute when Perry Coles turned and fired home from a narrow angle. And on 21 minutes, Spencer Day`s side went two-up after a cross was converted by Charlie Allen from close range.
Boro had chances to increase their lead before the break and despite the Scholars improving in the second period, they were not clinical to in front of goal to pull a goal back get into the game.
The win lifts Boro to within four points of leaders Royston Town with a game in hand while Saturday`s only other league game saw Aylesbury FC fall to a disappointing home defeat to fellow lower mid-table side Arlesey Town.
Defensive errors cost the Moles dear as they fell 2-0 down to goals from Sean Beesley after 11 minutes and Arel Amu on 34 minutes. The Bedfordshire side added a third 11 minutes into the second half through Christian Tavernier.
It was only in the final few minutes that the home side showed any fight, pulling two back through Ty Deacon and Danny Gordon to leave the visitors facing a nervy last few seconds.
