Saturday's Central and South West action reviews

By David Watters

The EVO-STIK League Southern's Central and South & West divisions were decimated by frozen pitches on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Only Hanwell Town`s 2-1 home win against Aylesbury FC managed to go ahead in the Central section.

Hanwell moved to within six points of the play-off places with a win over the third-bottom Moles, courtesy of Dean Allen`s penalty after 23 minutes and Will Healey`s goal a minute before the break - all after Ty Deacon had given the visitors a 12th minute lead.

In the South & West, leaders Hereford FC`s game at Yate Town survived the freeze and saw the Bulls win 2-0 to move a massive seventeen points clear at the top of the table.

A crowd of 886 saw John Mills break the deadlock to give the Bulls a 61st minute lead that Pablo Haysham doubled four minutes later.

Evesham United moved into second place, but had to make do with just one point from their home game with a now ninth-placed North Leigh.

The Oxfordshire side led through Lance Williams` 17th minute effort until a minute before half-time when Garyn Preen equalised.

The only other game to go ahead was in `balmy` Devon where Barnstaple Town beat Wimborne Town, thanks to a 68th minute James Blake goal.
